Satisfactory: turn a milestone into a production chain
A milestone material list is easier to use when you translate it into the next missing production step. Read the reward, confirm the selected milestone and separate a one-time submission from the continuing factory. Do not fund progression by losing track of the machines that must keep supplying you.

Choose the unlock for a specific job
The milestone reference describes HUB submissions as a progression route that unlocks buildings, recipes and equipment. Start with the task you want the unlock to support. For example, an organizational or production problem may suggest a relevant capability to investigate. Read the actual reward list in your game instead of selecting whichever milestone has the smallest-looking material total. The objective is to connect progression to a useful next action. A clear note says what you want to build afterward and which unlock enables it. This gives the material request a purpose beyond emptying a checklist.
Separate required stock from production flow
A milestone may ask for a quantity of parts, while your machines produce parts over time. These are different measurements. Write the required amount in an amount field and your current production rate in a rate field. If you calculate an illustrative waiting time, state assumptions such as an uninterrupted supply and no competing use. Do not assume the displayed machine rate equals delivered stock when input or output is blocked. Check the actual container or inventory before declaring the requirement ready. A production chain can be established even while the final submission amount is still accumulating.
Trace the missing intermediate
Pick one required part you do not yet have and inspect its current recipe. Trace its immediate inputs and the machines that can supply them. Stop at the first concrete missing condition: a recipe unlock, material, machine, connection or power supply. That becomes the next task. Avoid rebuilding every line because one advanced-looking component is missing. A small dependency sketch reveals whether the problem is a shortage of stock or an absent production stage. It also makes existing equipment easier to reuse. The exact recipe and costs should come from your current game rather than an invented universal milestone shopping list.
Submit deliberately and verify progress
The official reference notes that items inserted into the HUB terminal cannot be taken back. Check the selected milestone and quantities before committing parts. Keep needed working supplies separately identified so you understand the effect of the submission on your next construction task. After completion, inspect what actually unlocked and which progression route it belongs to. The reference also distinguishes later tier access through Space Elevator phases; not every future capability is obtained by repeating the same HUB action. Confirm the next requirement rather than guessing from the appearance of a new menu. Progress is useful when the factory can support the next intended task.
Illustrative factory exercise
In an illustrative plan, a milestone requires part B, made from intermediate A. Your A line exists but B has no production machine yet. Waiting longer beside the A container will not create B. Trace and establish the missing B stage, verify actual stock, then check the selected milestone before submission. The example separates accumulation from an absent dependency.

Questions that come up
Does waiting always solve a missing part?
No. Waiting helps only when the required production chain is functioning. An absent stage needs a different action.
Does every progression gate use the HUB alone?
No. The reference distinguishes HUB milestones from Space Elevator phase progression. Follow the actual requirement shown by the relevant system.
